General Service Guidelines
Place all material inside the Rumpke trash and recycling carts.
Place carts curbside the evening before your service day.
Face the cart opening toward the street, within 3 ft. of the curb and 3 ft. away from other objects.
Material placed in recycling carts should be loose, not inside plastic bags.
Bulky Items
Rumpke will collect bulky items on your regular service day. You may place bulky items out for collection on one day during each calendar month at no charge. There will be a charge for collection of bulky items on additional days in the same month. Any item placed outside the trash cart will be considered a bulky item. As a courtesy, please contact Rumpke in advance when you have bulky items for pickup.
Examples of Bulky Items: appliances, carpet, furniture, toys.
Upholstered items such as sofas and mattresses MUST be wrapped in plastic.
Appliances with Freon: Items must have Freon removed by a licensed technician, and the removal certificate must be attached to the appliance. Examples: refrigerators, freezers, A/C units.
Prohibited Items
Please DO NOT place the items listed below inside Rumpke trash or recycling carts. For safe disposal options, please contact your solid waste district.
RUMPKE CANNOT COLLECT:
Tires
Liquids
Batteries
Hazardous waste
Flammable materials
Household chemicals
Safe Disposal of Sharps & Needles: Place in a hard plastic laundry detergent bottle, reattach the lid and secure it with duct tape. Use a thick permanent marker to clearly write "SHARPS" on the bottle. Place the sealed bottle inside your trash cart.

Not Accepted For Recycling:
Plastic bags, cassette tapes, bed sheets, metal hangers, metal chains, hoses, batteries, buckets, car parts, chemicals, clothes, cord, cups, dishware, electronics, hazardous items, light bulbs, needles, pots, pans, ropes, toys, tubs, window glass, wire.
Holiday Schedule
If the holiday falls on a weekday on or before your regular service day (Tuesday), collection will be delayed one day.
If the holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, collection will NOT be delayed.

Looking to recycle your old TV or paint? You can bring your old TV and paint to the Lorain County Collection Center located at 540 South Abbe Road in Elyria. The center is open Monday 12 p.m to 4 p.m, Wednesday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
